    Communication activities

    Relevant policy implementation, public relations and communication activities such as projects, events and publications:
    * AsktheEU.org
    - Access Info runs the https://www.AsktheEU.org website, an online platform where citizens can file access to documents requests to any EU institutions. All responses and requests are published online and in real-time. Access Info also regularly files information requests of our own.

    * Transparency of the European Commission
    On problematic procedural issues related with Regulation 1049/2001:
    - Campaigning against the EC's postal address policy adopted on 1 April 2014, whereby access to documents requests are rejected if citizens fail to provide a personal postal address.
    - Letters challenging the automated message warning requesters that there might be delays in processing their requests due to the summer holidays.

    On the overuse of exceptions contained in Regulation 1049/2001:
    - Protection of privacy (to block access initially to EU Commissioners’ expenses: https://www.access-info.org/eut/27442)
    - Protection of legal advice (to block access to the legal advice of the European Commission on the reform of the Lobby Register, and to block access to the legal advice received by the Commission on the ‘EU-Turkey Deal’). You can find out about our cases against the Commission, here: https://www.access-info.org/litigation#EUlitigation

    - We also campaign on the need for greater transparency of decision-making processes, including better record keeping and greater transparency of trilogues.
    - We published an analysis of the levels of transparency and access to information related to the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership negotiations. https://www.access-info.org/ttip-transparency

    *Transparency of the European Parliament
    - Campaigning for adoption of international standards on access to information as part of the Transparency, accountability and integrity in the EU institutions own-initiative report procedure (AFCO) Sven GIEGOLD

    * Transparency of Company Ownership:
    - Access Info will follow the implementation of the Anti-money laundering Directive, focusing on the question of "legitimate access" to beneficial ownership information and calling for public registers.
