Communication activities
Projects:
Cotton Crimes
Country: Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan (with advocacy at the EU level)
The project aims to call upon international institutions and the private sector (including retailers and cotton traders) to put pressure on the Government of Uzbekistan to end the use of forced labour in the cotton industry. This is done through advocacy with the EU, UN bodies (in particular the ILO) and EU member state governments, as well as public campaigning to generate public demand for action and to put pressure on business to take responsibility within their supply chains to end forced labour in Uzbekistan’s cotton fields.
Anti-Trafficking Monitoring Group
The Anti-Trafficking Monitoring Group is a coalition of 11 organisations based in England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland. The coalition came together in May 2009 to monitor the UK's implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings. Together the Group monitors the British Government’s implementation of the Convention and examines all types of trafficking, including internal trafficking and the trafficking of British nationals. The Group is dedicated to research, data analysis, reporting and advocacy activities, and it operates according to a human rights based approach to protect the well-being and best interests of trafficked persons. Anti-Slavery is a member of the European Platform Civil Society Platform against Huma Trafficking.
RACE in Europe
The project addresses the issue of trafficking for forced criminal activity and begging in countries of the European Union, in particular trafficking from South-East Asia into cannabis factories and from South-East Europe for begging, pick-pocketing and other crimes. Main activities include research and dissemination of knowledge on this type of trafficking and training for third sector service providers and law enforcement agencies from different countries.
Staff Wanted Initiative
The project aims to protect workers in the hospitality industry in the UK, particularly in London, against trafficking, forced labour and exploitation. It will provide awareness-raising and empower workers (especially migrant workers) and facilitate partnerships with community/faith groups, trade unions, business, agencies and local authorities to strengthen protection. Main activities include roundtables brining different stakeholders together, advocacy for improving and strengthening regulations and legal work to identify opportunities for exploited hotel workers to pursue redress.Other activities
Anti-Slavery International is a member of the EU Civil Society Platform agains Human Trafficking.
