Goals / Remit
The Association of European Cancer Leagues (ECL) is a non-profit, European umbrella organisation of national and regional cancer societies. ECL provides an exclusive platform for members to collaborate with their international peers, primarily in the areas of cancer prevention, tobacco control, cancer research, access to medicines and patient support, and creates opportunities to advocate for these issues at the EU and national level.
ECL represents cancer leagues in the context of EU policy and advocates for members’ mutual priorities. ECL further provides administrative and technical support while offering a platform for an exchange of experiences and best practices between ECL member societies. ECL members work together primarily in the fields of cancer prevention (e.g., healthy lifestyles, skin protection and vaccinations HBV, HPV), tobacco control, access to medicines, quality of cancer care and support for cancer patients and survivors.Main EU files targeted
Cancer prevention and control, tobacco control, non communicable diseases (NCD), EU Joint Action on Vaccination, Innovative Partnership for Action Against Cancer (iPAAC) EU Joint Action, EU Beating Cancer Plan, Cancer Mission Board, EU Diet, Physical Activity and Health Platform, Health Policy Platform, sunbeds, issues related to patient support, access to medicines, implementation of the Tobacco Products Directive, all files related to medicinal products including Pharmaceutical Strategy. We are commissioned by the European Commission to communicate the European Code Against Cancer (www.cancercode.eu) through an EU Operating Grant.
