Goals / Remit
The Italian Association of Road Safety Professionals (www.aipss.it) is a not-for-profit association aiming at the promotion of road safety best practices and at the dissemination of road safety research results. AIPSS was established in 2009 in order to:
promote the application of the results of research and professional development in the field of road safety;
encourage the sharing of professional experiences and "best practices" in the field of road infrastructure safety management;
facilitate communication and cooperation between the study groups on road safety and public or private entity responsible for the management of road infrastructure;

Communication activities
AIPSS, through its members, organised, participated and co-managed the Pilot4Safety project ( http://pilot4safety.fehrl.org/, including the on-site Road Safety Audit and Road Safety Inspections and the development of the Safety Prevention Manual for Secondary Roads, www.aipss.it/manual-en.html; the Italian version, prepared by the Associates is available on the AIPSS home page:
After the accident in the tunnel Sierre in Switzerland, where 28 people were killed including 22 children, AIPSS promoted a petition, signed by more than 50 European stakeholders to the European Commissioner http://www.aipss.it/Invito-ITA.html ; following the Commissioner reply, the Association organised two workshops in Brussels who led to the preparation of the H2020 ECOROADS project www.ecoroadsproject.eu , that has been financed by the European Commission and successfully terminated with a relevant participation of AIPSS.
Currently AIPSS is working as partner in the H2020 project SIMUSAFE “ SIMUlation of behavioural aspects for SAFEr transport”
On 06 December 2017 AIPSS participates at the seminar "Autonomous Driving and its impact on society " at the European Parliament in Brussels, initiating a discussion about the safety of autonomous vehicles. Video available at www.aipss.it/Europarl6Dec.mp4
An awareness campaign about the risks related to the speed perception and reaction time while driving and reaction time has been launched “Da 100 a zero” www.aipss.it/Da100aZero.html
