    Goals / Remit

    Misereor ist das katholische Hilfswerk für Entwicklungszusammenarbeit. Gemeinsam mit einheimischen Partnern unterstützt Misereor Menschen jeden Glaubens und jeder Kultur.
    Seit 1958 hat Misereor über 112.000 Entwicklungsprojekte in Afrika, Asien, Lateinamerika und Ozeanien mit über 8 Milliarden Euro gefördert. Bei der Projektarbeit baut Misereor ganz auf seine lokalen Partner. Diese Organisationen, Gemeinden oder Selbsthilfegruppen kennen die Lage vor Ort am besten und genießen das Vertrauen der Betroffenen. Gemeinsam mit ihnen gestalten sie die Entwicklung vor Ort und werden dabei von Misereor unterstützt. Misereor bekämpft nicht nur Armut, Hunger und Unrecht, sondern auch ihre Ursachen. Als politische Lobby der Benachteiligten hinterfragt Misereor deshalb das global vorherrschende Wirtschaftsmodell im Hinblick auf Armut und Menschenrechte, pocht auf entschiedenere Schritte gegen den Klimawandel und prangert ungerechte Gesellschaftsstrukturen in den Ländern des Südens an.
