    Goals / Remit

The Building Performance Institute Europe (BPIE) is dedicated to improving the energy performance of buildings across Europe, and thereby helping to reduce CO2 emissions from the energy used by buildings.

BPIE acts both as an international centre of expertise on all aspects of energy efficiency and energy performance in European buildings, and as the European centre for a Global Buildings Performance Network created by ClimateWorks.

Our main focus lays on policy analysis, implementation and dissemination of knowledge through studies, policy briefs and best practices.

Our current work focuses on the key aspects of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD):
Definition of cost-optimal levels of minimum requirements (new and existing buildings)
    Energy Performance Certification (EPC)
    Nearly zero-energy buildings (nZEB)
    Financing large–scale retrofit

Created in 2010, BPIE is a not for profit organization operationally independent. Its original funding was provided by eceee, European Climate Foundation (ECF) and ClimateWorks.
