Conventional EU bioethanol results in two thirds less greenhouse gas emissions than fossil petrol and is the only measure capable of enabling the petrol sector reach its climate goals in the 2030 timeframe. There are no adverse side effects to use of ethanol in this context, and there are many important positive effects.
EERL engages in the policy shaping process in order to help correct a deeply flawed policy mindset in Brussels which aims to phase-out the use of safe and effective ethanol even though the science, evidence and climate imperative indicate that it should be doing the opposite.
