    Goals / Remit

    The Cobalt Development Institute (CDI) is a global non-profit trade association set up by industry representing over 60% of the world-wide production of cobalt. The CDI supports the cobalt industry for the sustainable and responsible primary and secondary production, use, re-use, recycling and trading of cobalt in all forms. It has an on-going extensive research programme on cobalt human health and environmental aspects and works with the scientific community.
    The CDI members are miners, producers, manufacturers, traders and end-users of the cobalt and cobalt compounds. It hosts the Cobalt REACH consortium (CoRC) under its umbrella which deals more specifically with REACH and CLP matters.
