Other activities
Logista as a renowned distributor in Europe is affected by all EU initiatives with some influence on Supply Chain activities, such as warehousing activities or transport. Therefore we closely follow all initiatives affecting any of the industries we participate in, such as tobacco, Pharma, wholesale distribution, books & publications and transport.
We are currently following the evolution and implementation of 2 major European Union Directives: the
Falsified Medicines Directive and the Tobacco Products Directive.
Both of them having its enforcement regarding the parts Logista is mostly affected in 2019 (February for the first and May for the latter).
Regarding the former, the delegated act (Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2016/161) detailing the characteristics of the safety features, how medicine authenticity should be verified, and by whom, was adopted on 2nd October 2015 and published, after scrutiny by the European Parliament and the Council, on 9th February 2016. It gives a 3-year time to be implemented.
The Falsified Medicine Directive, though mainly focused on the verification at the point of sale level, includes some traceability requirements for a shortlist of products; those especially affected by counterfeiting, and will probably derive into further commercial requirements by laboratories, which will take advantage of the regulatory changes to ask for a deeper control of the Supply Chain.Meetings
