Goals / Remit
Cooperatives Europe is the voice of cooperative enterprises in Europe. On behalf of its 80 member organisations from 33 European countries across all business sectors it promotes the cooperative business model in Europe. Its members represent 141 million individual member cooperators owning 176.000 co-operative enterprises and providing jobs to 4.7 million European citizens - a force for economic growth and social change.
Cooperatives Europe works to promote the cooperative business model at European level. Cooperatives Europe advocates granting the plurality of business forms in Europe. It is about increasing knowledge and recognition of the cooperative business model among EU authorities, designing and implementing policies and tools to support the development of the cooperative enterprises and anticipating the impact of new EU or national legislation. Cooperatives Europe fosters communication amongst and about cooperative enterprises. We focus our efforts on creating tools (...)Main EU files targeted

2018 Cooperatives Europe adopted and promoted several position papers on cross-sectoral issues, dealing mainly with entrepreneurship policy, taxation, cooperation & development and social business.
Cooperatives Europe is also involved in the discussion of the Future of Europe.
Cooperatives Europe actively participated in the SME envoy meetings and the Policy Forum on development.
Cooperatives Europe and its members also organised workshops during the European development days and participated as speaker into several events organised by Commission.
The core message that Cooperatives Europe has been putting forward in all our activities is that the plurality of business models needs to be implemented in the different European policies.
All the positions were adopted by the European Union Coordination Committee (EUCC), a specific committee within Cooperatives Europe, responsible for all aspects concerning the preparation, analysis, decision-making and communication related to the consultation process vis-à-vis the European Union’s institutions.- Meetings
