The .2 FTE relates to an individual in our internal public policy team who spends a portion of their time focussing on EU matters (on behalf of the firm, not its clients), mostly relating to economic and financial affairs; only part of which is within the scope of the Register.
A senior partner also spends a very small proportion of their time on EU matters that fall within the scope of the Register.
With regards to Tax: submissions to the EU remain an extremely small part of the work of three individuals. We estimate this comes to an annual total of 30 hours with zero marginal cost. N.b. We have allowed for the EMEA tax policy partner's engagement in our overall activity costs.
To note: there is also occasional a) ad-hoc outreach by UK partners/staff working in expert areas to EU officials (including in EU bodies other than the EP and the EC); b) Deloitte LLP partner/staff contribution to pan-European Deloitte member firm consultation responses.Person in charge of EU relations
Mr Stephen Griggs (Deputy CEO; Managing Partner Audit & Assurance and Public Policy)
Person with legal responsibility
Mr Richard Houston (Senior Partner and Chief Executive)

Communication activities
Deloitte partners and staff attend and occasionally speak at events on various topics organised by third parties
Other activities
Regarding tax:
- Deloitte LLP communicates with EU institutions or other public authorities on our own account (and occasionally in collaboration with other Deloitte EU member firms) in response to public consultations. In responding to such consultations we generally comment (from our practical experience, for example as tax practitioners of the commercial and tax issues facing our clients) on the likely effectiveness of proposed measures to meet stated public policy objectives and on likely side-effects, such as administrative burdens on business. In any event we would be transparent as to whose interests we were representing and as to the basis of the representations. This activity is a very small proportion of our activities and not the basis on which we earn revenues.
- Our revenue-generating activities include representational activities which we would not characterise as lobbying, for example we represent clients in primarily taxation matters by filing tax returns on their behalf to taxation authorities and corresponding with the authorities and otherwise representing clients to the authorities concerning agreement of the returns or related matters within the administrative discretion of the authorities.
- The Deloitte EMEA Head of Tax Policy, a UK partner, also occasionally attends events and meetings with the policy community in Brussels.- Meetings
