    Der Deutsche Verein für öffentliche und private Fürsorge e.V. ist der Zusammenschluss der öffentlichen und freien Träger sozialer Arbeit in Deutschland. Er ist ein eingetragener, gemeinnütziger Verein mit Sitz in Berlin. Er ist ein Forum für alle Bestrebungen und Entwicklungen in den Bereichen Sozialpolitik, insbesondere Kinder-, Jugend-, Senioren-, Familien- und Behindertenpolitik sowie Rehabilitation, Grundsicherung, Pflege, soziale Berufe, Sozialplanung und internationale soziale Arbeit.
    Er dient als Plattform, auf der die Auseinandersetzungen um widerstreitende Ideen und Interessen in den genannten Politikfeldern ausgetragen werden. Der Deutsche Verein ist ein wichtiges Instrument, um diese Interessen in Deutschland zusammenzufassen, gegenüber der Politik im Bund und den Organen der Europäischen Union zu vertreten und Entwicklungsschritte durchzusetzen.
