Variations from previous registrations are explained by the following factors:
    1. Variations in EU regulatory activity
    2. Changes in the overall mix and number of association memberships
    3. Variations in consultancy contracts
    4. Corporate demerger activity

In cases of doubt regarding the level of reportable expenditure, the highest possible figure has been reported even though this may result in a certain overstatement of Transparency Register-related activity.

On 31 August 2017, Dow and DuPont formed a new merged company known as DowDuPont. At that time, DowDupont Inc. became the parent entity of The Dow Chemical Company and E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, which remained as corporate groups. As initially announced, the intention was to subsequently spin into three independent, publically traded companies focused on Materials Science (Dow), Agriculture (Corteva) and Specialty Products (DuPont). Please see www.dow-dupont.com for further details. Dow spun off from DowDupont on 1 April 2019, becoming an entirely independent company. The same took place with both DuPont and Corteva on 1 June 2019. Throughout the entirety of 2019, the (then) future separate entities conducted their own Government Affairs activities and maintained their own trade association memberships. The Transparency Register entry for Dow for 2019 covers exclusively Dow-related expenditure. The activities of the other two companies are reported separately in their respective Transparency Register entries.
