    Goals / Remit

    The Sustainable Eel Group was formed to take action to support the recovery of the European Eel.
    It is a non-profit organisation, registered as a ASBL in Belgium, with a wide diversity of stakeholders representing environmental, social and economic interests, from all over Europe and across the eel's range (sometimes beyond the EU).

    Our aim:
    to accelerate the recovery of the European eel

    Our objectives:
    - To support the delivery of the of the objectives of the EU Eel Regulation
    - To provide an effective leadership alliance for advocacy, influencing and collaborative working
    - To influence the reduction of illegal eel trade
    - To enable a responsible and more sustainable eel sector (fishing, trading, restocking and consumption)
    - To influence the improvement of the health of aquatic ecosystems (improved migration and connectivity, habitat quality)
