     Measuring ocean surface currents just by watching ships navigating the world’s oceans, a strange idea for someone who knows the considerable human, technical and financial resources used to acquire ocean current informations worldwide. However, it is the disruptive idea we are implementing at e-Odyn, a company created in December 2015. Using our patented algorithm called e-Motion, we measures ocean surface currents using a crowd sourcing technique relying on ship trajectories analysis. Using existing infrastructures and systems deployed for other needs such as Automatic Identification System (AIS), we are able to gather real-time current measurements worldwide, with higher resolution in space and time than common measurements systems, with a wide coverage and at very low cost.
