    Communication activities

    - EJF is in routine and regular contact with MEPs to present evidence from our investigations and grassroots partnerships in order to raise awareness on problems in the fisheries sector, particularly regarding the issue of illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing in West Africa and South-East Asia.

    - EJF is member of a coalition of NGOs (the EU IUU Coalition) working to support the effective implementation of the EU IUU Regulation and maintain EU leadership in global fisheries governance. EJF is also working on the revision of the Control Regulation (1224/2009) alongside other NGOs and as part of the EU Fisheries Control coalition. As part of this coalition work, we maintain a close contact with relevant MEPs and organise events in the European Parliament to share our recommendations.

    - EJF is working with a coalition of other NGOs to raise awareness about sustainable fish consumption in the EU, as well as communicate the pressure on fishing stocks from overfishing, illegal fishing, etc. as well as the fact that climate change compounds these problems.

    - EJF is working with the European Commission to share evidence of IUU fishing in high risk areas such as West Africa and South-East Asia to inform and support the effective implementation of the EU IUU Regulation 'carding scheme'.

    - EJF is in contact with the European Commission and MEPs to raise awareness of the need for protection of climate refugees.

    - EJF ensures visibility to the EU Commission's financial support to our projects in Ghana and Liberia, including through published materials and events.
