EUROMALT represents the E.U. malting industry. Its members are National Associations and not individual companies. 11 countries have National Associations, 17 do not. Of these 17, six (6) do not have a malting industry. In 2019 the total E.U. 28 malting capacity was about 9,95 m tons. Just for your guidance, the total World malting capacity in 2017 was about 25,60 m tons so EUROMALT represented at that time a third of the World’s capacity. 94% of malt produced is used for beer production, 4% for whisky production while the remaining 2% is used for other food use, such as breakfast cereals and malt vinegar
