    Goals / Remit

    Mission: To reverse the alarming rise in chronic diseases by providing leadership and policy recommendations based on contemporary evidence.

    Objectives:
    - Provide policy recommendations based on contemporary evidence
    - Raise awareness and advocate by engaging with policy-makers
    - Promote the development and implementation of a EU Framework on Chronic Disease
    - Develop and publish position/policy papers

    Priorities:
    - Primary and secondary prevention related to chronic diseases
    - Common risk factors - tobacco use, poor nutrition, physical inactivity, alcohol consumption and environmental factors

    The activities of the alliance are coordinated by the Secretariat which is staffed by a consultant working approx. 1/3 of a full time position per month. In addition, all the members of the alliance contribute to the preparation of papers, joint statements, representation at events, etc.

    On average, there are 15 persons involved in the overall activities which are coordinated mostly virtually and at meetings (4 times / year).
