    Goals / Remit

EUNIC - European Union National Institutes for Culture is Europe’s network of national cultural institutes, with 33 members from 27 EU Member States. The members work in arts, languages, youth, education, science, society, intercultural dialogue and development sectors.

At local level, EUNIC members join together in clusters – in different cities, regions and countries – to collaborate on common projects and initiatives. At present there are over 90 clusters established in Asia, Australia, Europe, Middle East and North Africa, North and South America, and Sub-Saharan Africa.

    As an organisation, EUNIC is:
    - An active network implementing shared projects directly or through its members and clusters
    - A learning network sharing ideas and practices between members and other stakeholders
    - A partnering network developing partnerships with like-minded organisations
    - An advocacy network raising awareness and effectiveness of building cultural relationships between people worldwide

EUNIC has a strong commitment, as well as extensive experience, in the role of culture in the EU’s external relations, endorsing the outcomes highlighted by the Preparatory Action: Culture in EU External Relations report.

EUNIC’s experience includes trust and relationship building, people-to-people activities, crisis and conflict resolution, development and capacity building activities. Moreover, the members engage each day with thousands of individuals, therefore having real dialogue with real people and sharing European values through cultural and educational experiences, inside and outside the EU.

EUNIC represents all EU Member States and has a strong delivery capacity and worldwide expertise, with its members working in partnerships locally. Culture is recognized as a valuable component of the EU external relations policy, and there is a proven demand for cultural relations with Europe.

EUNIC complements EU initiatives and activities in the field of culture, and aims to become the European Institutions’ first choice as a competence pool and think tank.
