    Goals / Remit

    Founded in 1960 FESI, the Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry, represents the interests of approximately 1,800 sporting goods manufacturers and retailers (85% of the European market) through its National Sporting Goods Industry Federations and its directly affiliated member companies. 70-75% of FESI's membership is made up of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises. In total, the European Sporting Goods Industry employs over 650,000 EU citizens and has an annual turnover of some 66 billion euro. Today, we can say that a considerable number of national laws originates at European level and that these regulations may impact all our member companies’ financial results, and strategic plans and direction. Providing valuable inputs and industry views to the EU institutions before final laws are adopted is therefore crucial.

    FESI is the European representative of the sporting goods industry vis-à-vis the European Institutions as well as other European authorities and bodies. More specifically it,

    - Provides a unique opportunity for sporting goods companies to collaborate on non-commercial pre-competitive issues of common interest;
    - Monitors all legislative initiatives relating to the sporting goods industry at a European level;
    - Offers an established and recognised platform for the voice of the sporting goods industry to be heard in Brussels;
    - Communicates with a variety of European stakeholders across a wide range of issues from trade and environment to product safety and many more.

    One of the main goals of FESI is to promote free trade between European Member States and, of course, to facilitate trade world-wide.

    FESI represents some 1800 companies with an annual turnover of more than 65 billion Euro.
