Goals / Remit
Fortescue is a global metals and green energy company, recognised for its culture, innovation and industry-leading development of infrastructure, mining assets and green energy initiatives. It operates with two divisions – Metals and Energy. Fortescue Energy is comprised of Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) and WAE Technologies. FFI is committed to producing green hydrogen, containing zero carbon, from renewable electricity. Fortescue is acquiring and developing technology solutions for hard-to-decarbonise industries, while building a global portfolio of renewable green hydrogen and green ammonia projects. Fortescue is developing and acquiring the technology and energy supply to help decarbonise the Australian iron ore operations of one of the world’s largest producers of iron ore, Fortescue Metals, by 2030 (Scope 1 and 2 terrestrial emissions). We have published a fully costed roadmap and plan to achieve this.
Main EU files targeted
Fortescue aligns with the EU's proposals and policies, most notably with regard to climate neutrality and economic growth. We support the Commission's proposals with regard to renewable hydrogen in FitFor55 and REPowerEU, and are following the development of related files such as
- the Critical Raw Materials Act
- Net Zero Industries Act
- the Hydrogen and Decarbonised Gas Market package
- the development of a certification system for renewable hydrogen
- Development of the European Hydrogen BankAddress

Other financial info
Our flagship green ammonia plant, 'FFI Holmaneset' has been selected in July 2025 by the Innovation Fund for a grant for Innovative electrification in industry and hydrogen.
The Holmaneset project is a great opportunity for FFI, Norway and Europe for early development of a significant green energy value chain, and we commend the EU for its leadership in kickstarting a green ammonia industry.
We look forward to finalising the details of our arrangements with the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) in due course. -

Meetings
7 meetings found. Download meetings
The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.
1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
