    Goals / Remit

HCWH Europe is an independent non-profit NGO focusing on the environmental impact of the healthcare sector in Europe.

Our mission is to transform the European healthcare sector so that it is ecologically sustainable and a leading advocate for environmental health and justice across the globe.

    HCWH Europe main objectives are:
    1) Harness healthcare as a powerful voice for environmental policy. With policy programmes, we seek to influence the EU and UN policy processes to achieve strong Europe-wide environmental frameworks regarding public health and the health sector.
    2) Reduce the harmful effects on the environment caused by healthcare (which is a major polluter). We work with European hospitals, NGOs and scientists to change how healthcare does business on a daily basis to reduce the environmental footprint of the sector.
