    Goals / Remit

Heathrow Airport Holdings Limited (HAL) owns and runs Heathrow Airport, the UK's aviation hub. HAL ensures the smooth operation and running of the airport.

    Main EU files targeted

Our activities are based on EU initiatives and policies that would affect the operation of the airport. These are primarily general aviation policy concerns, for example SESAR policy and deployment, sustainability, slot regulation, and airspace policy e.g. EU Directive 598.

This can also concern other policy areas e.g. Brexit and trade.

Engagement on these matters may involve EU organisations including, but not limited to: European Parliament, Commission, Taskforce 50, DG Move, businesses operating in the EU and others.

    Other financial info

Heathrow Airport Holdings Limited has two funding streams for EU Grants: INEA (Innovation and Networks Executive Agency) and SDM (SESAR Deployment Manager for Joint Undertaking ATM).

Last year we received an INEA grant, with the details of this outlined above. The figure for 2018/19 only covers grants received in the organisation's most recently closed financial year (04/2018 - 03/2019). This accounts for our full Capital grants, and is a more accurate and reflective total of all of our grants.

We also receive multi-beneficiary grants, with a grant also managed by the R&D SESAR team. Projects include AMAN / DMAN and Tactical DCB. These did not fall in the most recently closed financial year and will be declared next year, in accordance with the appropriate corresponding year. We are happy to provide further information on these where appropriate.
