    We empower organisations and equip individuals with the expertise to trade effectively, sustainably and competitively
    The Institute was established over 85 years ago to support UK businesses in growing their international markets and trade. The Institute is the leading association of exporters and importers. We provide education and training to professionalise the UK’s international traders.

    As a partner with governments, we deliver national and international programmes, acting as evangelists for the UK and establishing UK processes and standards globally.

    Main EU files targeted

    IOE&IT targets by its interest representation activities a wide range of matters related to customs and training - including roadmaps, public consultations, directives, regulations, decisions, interinstitutional agreements around EU policy on the future of the European Union’s Customs Union, its relevance and its effectiveness in the long-term. We also intend to lobby on future relevant customs-related consultations.

    We would like to express our views on below mentioned, but not limited to, topics:

    - Revision of the Union Customs Code consultation that is currently being drafted to be submitted before 29/09/2022
    - Data and IT systems policies and frameworks – data management and technologies for customs, emerging technologies for customs operation
    - Single Trade Window framework, policies and consultations
    - EU Customs & border agency consultations/policy
    - Framework for cooperation consultations/policies
    - ABC model – Framework of Responsibility and Trust – AEO model reform and further development – consultations and policies
    - Education and training of customs officials, customs intermediaries and other actors in a supply chain
    - Links between Customs and other policies
    - Management of customs policies and frameworks
    - Interoperability and global/international standards – consultations/policies/frameworks
    - Future of EU international cooperation in Customs matters – trade facilitation consultations and framework
    - Green taxation – Green Customs initiatives consultations and policies
    - Trade in services – consultations and framework
    - Tariffs to protect the market – anti-dumping and EU standards - consultations
    - Tariffs and VAT for Customs, duty exemptions - consultations
    - E-commerce legislation consultations
