Trade Promotion Europe
Trade Promotion Europe is the European association representing the Trade Promotion Organisations and Agrifood Promotion Organisaitons of Member States to the EU institutions and Stakeholders.
Trade Promotion Organisations are responsible to support the internationalisation of their national companies, in the EU Single Market or overseas. The Agrifood Promotion Organisations are responsible for the promotion in the EU Single market and in third countries’ markets of their national agri-food businesses. Typically TPOs and APOs are mandated by their national government or stakeholders in their mission.
Our members offer a variety of services to European companies, including capacity building for internationalisation, information and competitive intelligence, promotion services, as well as investment services.
Trade Promotion Europe engages constructively with the EU institutions in the following ways:
- To have recognised status as a key consultative partner, reflecting the views and needs of members as one voice, in order to ensure policies are supportive of exporting companies of all sizes
- Contribute formal upstream input and suggestions in relation to instruments designed to support SMEs’ internationalisation
- Partner with EU Institutions on the design and implementation of Trade Promotion activities:
TPE fosters value added collaboration between members through:
- Sharing best practices and approach on supports, trends, opportunities and key challenges
- Disseminate early information in relation to EU projects and funds, relevant to TPOs companies and possibly joint collaboration
- Training and education programmes
- High profile events

Communication activities
ITA operates worldwide through a large network of Trade Agencies Offices linked to Italian Embassies and Consulates and works closely with local authorities and businesses, providing information, support and advice to Italian companies, by facilitating their access to the European Union’s funding programmes.
The main goal is to help Italian SMEs seize opportunities for growth and development at an European and international level, by assisting them in identifying suitable EU funding and tender opportunities. To this purpose, ITA makes available user-friendly information and knowledge on the decision-making processes of the EU and the European Investment Bank (EIB) in order to establish a direct line between the Italian SMEs and trade associations and these institutions.
The main activities carried out are:
Organization of information events:
- Informative seminars / Webinars in Italy and abroad dedicated to EU programmes, with a focus on countries and/or sectors, in collaboration with the EU institutions;
- Training seminars / Webinars on EU project management methodologies in collaboration with experts;
- Missions of entrepreneurs to the EU Commission, in Brussels, aimed at facilitating direct contact between SMEs and the DGs responsible for geographic or thematic funding programs;
- Information, assistance and networking actions and guidance on EU Calls for Proposals and Calls for tenders;
- Elaboration of deliverables (brochures, manuals, guides, etc.) in Italian language, to facilitate the awareness of SMEs of EU programmes and project management methodologies
- Publication in the Agency website of a monthly newsletter "Opportunità dall'Europa", an information tool on EU funding, policy-making, events and news.Other activities
