    Goals / Remit

Klimadelegation e.V. is a youth organisation working towards a climate-friendly and sustainable system and towards maintaining a planet worth living on for present and future generations. We are committed to ensuring that the interests of young people are respected and taken more seriously in political decisions. Since 2012, we have been taking part in UN climate negotiations. Each year we bring the voice of young people and future generations to the negotiating table. In addition, we report on the negotiations and climate policy processes, aiming to sensitise young people in particular to the global effects of climate change and motivate them to get involved. Our volunteer work further includes climate education, e.g. through lectures and workshops, as well as project management and work in public relations. We are always open to projects and co-operations, as long as they are compatible with our values and goals.

    Main EU files targeted

One of the central topics on EU level is the so-called Fit-for-55 package of the EU. Important legislative proposals from the package that the KD is dealing with are the revision of the Effort Sharing Regulation, the Social Climate Fund, the Carbon Border Adjustment Menchanism (CBAM) as well as the extension and improvement of the EU’s Emission Trading System (EU-ETS).. We also aim at monitoring processes around Sustainable Finance, such as the EU Taxonomy. In addition, the Commission will present its second Circular Economy Package in July, which we will also monitor. However, we do not only want to focus on legislative projects, but also on strategic projects of the EU. Publications such as the EU's Strategic Foresight Report are therefore also relevant for our work.

    Communication activities

Klimadelegation communicates with stakeholders on various platforms for our purpose of global and intergenerational climate justice. We strenghen climate education for youth on social media, where we usually post regularly and explain climate politics also in regards to EU climate protection measures like the ‘Green New Deal’. Additionally, we participate in panels and give workshops to which we apply or are invited.
With our membership associations, we strategically communicate mostly digitally and meet at conferences like COPs. Together, we take part in Bilaterals with politicians and organisations to understand and influence their decisions. We also develop or support shared proposals i.e. a position paper of Klima-Allianz for COP26 or an open letter of the Junge Deutsche Vernetzung to the German government on COP26. We formulate our own demands for climate justice as in German and English with different lengths and depth to connect to different readers like policy makers or youth. Those, we forward to the media and the general public by proactively presenting them at a press conference last autumn and by offering interviews. Consequently, we appeared in different German newspapers, TV and radio stations. We aim to continue our public relations by repeating, improving and complementing the listed activities.
