    Goals / Remit

KWS* is one of the world’s leading seed producers. About 4,850 employees in over 70 countries have generated net sales of 1,037 million euros in the fiscal year 2015/2016. With core markets in Germany, Europe, North and South America, the Middle East and China, KWS is a global player – one with a long tradition and a down-to-earth approach. A company with a tradition of family ownership, KWS has operated independently for some 160 years. Research and development traditionally take a high priority at KWS. In fiscal year 2015/16, the group invested 17 percent of its net sales (about 182 million euros) in research and breeding. Some 1,800 of our employees worldwide – nearly 40 percent – are contributing their knowledge and experience in this area. In addition to traditional breeding, we use leading-edge technologies and processes to develop new varieties and improve existing seed in order to increase yields and resistance to disease, pests and abiotic stress.
