Goals / Remit
EFBW is the voice of the European bottled water industry. Through its membership base of national trade associations and direct company members, EFBW represents over 550 producers of natural mineral and spring waters.
EFBW promotes natural mineral and spring waters as the best source of natural and healthy hydration. Its statutory purposes include: representation of the interests of the bottled water industry before European and international institutions and other relevant stakeholders; identification of issues likely to affect members and development of solutions with due regard to the industry’s diversity; promotion of good manufacturing practices, encouragement of socially responsible and sustainable management practices, promotion of the industry’s role with respect to source and environment protection.Main EU files targeted

1. Member of the WaterProtect project, led by VITO. Three-year EU funded, Horizon 2020, project with the aim to protect drinking water resources from pollution by pesticides and nitrates. To reach this ambitious goal, the project will identify and develop innovative participation and governance strategies and promote the most appropriate mitigation measures in 7 EU member states.
2. Coordinator of the Product Environment Footprint (PEF) pilot for Packed Water led by DG Environment
3. Member of the Polymark consortium, led by Petcore Europe - Three-year EU funded FP7 research project with the aim of developing of new technology to identify and sort polymers, including PET plastic, in the high-value plastic waste stream.Other activities
