Goals / Remit
NewsGuard uses journalism to fight false news, misinformation, and disinformation. Our trained analysts, who are experienced journalists, research online news brands to help readers and viewers know which ones are trying to do legitimate journalism—and which are not. We are launching in Europe, including Germany, France, and Italy in January 2019.

NewsGuard has met with members of the EU Commission to discuss its work within the context on the Code of Practise on Disinformation. NewsGuard's co-CEO, Steven Brill, has presented at EU Commission conferences, and will speak at a January 2019 Conference on Countering Disinformation Online. NewsGuard is also joining SOMA(Social Observatory for Disinformation and Social Media Analysis), which was launched to provide support to a European community that will jointly fight disinformation.
