    Hlavním cílem Odborového svazu KOVO jakožto odborové organizace je zastupování zájmů zaměstnanců převážně v kovoprůmyslu v ČR, ale působí i v rámci svých struktur na evropské, globální, celostátní a regionální i podnikové úrovni.

    OS KOVO zastupuje zájmy energeticky náročného průmyslu (ocelářství, metalurgie, automotive), zabývá se tématy jako je spravedlivá transformace, Green Deal, ETS, CBAM, dekarbonizace, dvojitý přechod, konkurenceschopnost ocelářství a evropskými průmyslovými sektory.

    V období 2018 - 2023 kdy byl OS KOVO zapojen do projektu ESSA jsme po ukončení projektu a po jeho konečném zúčtování, za celé období trvání projektu, obdrželi celkovou částku 904 290 CZK.

    OS KOVO se od roku 1993 průběžně zapojuje do různých projektů zaměřených zejména na informování a konzultování zaměstnanců (evropské rady zaměstnanců), dále v rámci industriAll Europe je zapojen do evropských projektů zaměřených na digitalizaci a dekarbonizaci průmyslu. Současně je také zapojen do projektu jehož anglický název je - Blueprint “New Skills Agenda Steel”:Industry-driven sustainable European Steel Skills Agenda and Strategy (ESSA) a dále evropského projektu IRESDES4.0 - Industrial RElations and Social Dialogue for an Economy and Society "4.0". Od roku 2022 se účastní projektu "Social Prerogative and Specific Competencies Lines (SOCPL) - Call: SOCPL-2021-IND-REL - Project 101052331 - BARMETAL" jehož cílem je výzkum transformace průmyslu a jak tyto procesy mohou posílit kolektivní vyjednávání.
