    Goals / Remit

    The Open Voice Network (OVON) is a neutral, global organization dedicated to standards development for voice assistance – and, an open, inclusive, and trustworthy future of voice assistance. The OVON is the voice-centric open-source community and non-profit industry association of the Linux Foundation. It enjoys the participation of voice advocates and specialists from thirteen nations.

    The Open Voice Network is focused on the issues that matter most to the users of voice assistance: 1) the protection of consumer and commercial privacy, 2) interoperability between voice assistant platforms and systems, and the 3) ownership (and access to) of brand- and organization-specific voice destinations. The Network is also studying the issues of synthetic voice, and surveying numerous ethical AI guidelines, with the aim of developing enterprise ethical use guidance for voice assistance.
