    Communication activities

The challenge affecting successful implementation of comprehensive immunisation programmes in Europe today are multi-faced and, as described above, lie on several levels cutting across multiple domains.

These include political leadership and the impelling need for greater attention on the fundamental role played by disease prevention and health promotion ; appropriate expertise and maximised efficiency in the evolution of the medical value of vaccines and vaccination; targeted training to help healthcare professionals across al levels better understand vaccines and their fundamental role in informing patient choice and addressing hesitant behavior; implementation of targeted, clear and coherent messages on immunisation needs for the general public and healthcare staff; appropriate surveillance and monitoring of disease.
