SFF preserves and promotes the interests of its Constituent Associations, and through them, the interests of the members of the Constituent Associations, and of Scottish Fishing Boatowners and Fishermen.

SFF Services Limited and (since 2019) Marine Environmental Solutions Limited have both received grant support from the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund and Scottish Government for various non-commercial activities such as; fisheries observer schemes, trailing new innovative selective fishing gear and chartering vessels for scientific purposes.
Grant funding has been exclusively from Scottish Government since mid-2021. -
