Goals / Remit
Styrenics Circular Solutions (SCS) was founded by leading styrenics manufacturers united by a common goal: to transform the styrenics industry by un-leashing polystyrene’s value as a fully and infinitely recyclable material. To this aim SCS is encouraging the engagement of the entire value chain – from partners in supply chain to converters, recyclers, brand owners, retailers and trade associations.
For more information please visit: http://styrenics-circular-solutions.com/Main EU files targeted
SCS is focused on all regulatory and policy initiatives of relevance to its mission, objective and members/partners. This includes policy measures under the Circular Economy initiative and broader EU Plastics Strategy, including related recycling-, waste collection and sorting technologies and initiatives.

Communication activities
Styrenics Circular Solutions (SCS) has created three separate working groups to heighten the efficiency and reach of SCS activities:
Working Group 1 | Technology
Objectives: Identify and accelerate the deployment of the most effective recycling technologies
Working Group 2 | Waste Streams & Sorting Technologies
Objectives: Facilitate the delivery of polystyrene post-consumer waste feedstock to the optimal recycling technologies; and build up an SCS knowledge base through studies, cooperation with regional partners and learning from related initiatives
Working Group 3 | Communication
Objectives: Raise the profile of Styrenics Circular Solutions and its commitment among key stakeholders, including policymakers, authorities and brand ownersOther activities
Styrenics Circular Solutions believes that innovative technology and partner-driven solutions lie at the heart of a thriving circular economy for styrenics. To jump-start the recycling rates of post-consumer styrenic products, SCS is determined to:
• Accelerate the development and roll-out of the game-changing technologies that convert used styrene-based products back to high-quality applications, ultimately also suitable for food contact
• Mobilise regional waste collection and sorting partners to push more styrene-based products into recycling, creating a “pull” and clear business cases
Only then can the true potential for the circularity of polystyrene and other styrenic polymers be unlocked.
