Goals / Remit
The mission of the Terre des Hommes organisations is to provide active support to children, without racial, religious, political, cultural or gender-based discrimination. The Convention on the Rights of the Child constitutes the conceptual framework guiding the activities of the Terre des Hommes organisations.
In their own countries and regions, the Terre des Hommes organisations bring to the attention of the public, including children and young people, the causes of underdevelopment, together with the rights of the child.
They mobilise political will and advocate appropriate governmental policies. They undertake fund raising activities to achieve their objectives.
The International Secretariat ensures coordination among the Terre des Hommes organisations and representation at an international and European level.

Communication activities
Events:
• DU Europe Study: Research project: “Psychosocial care for unaccompanied minors in Europe: is there an economic case?” (October 2015-December 2016): it is an on-going multi-country research consisting of an economic evaluation of psychosocial care services provided by EU governments to foreigner unaccompanied minors at their arrival in Europe.
• Mario project: a project led by Terre des Hommes and involving 19 partner organizations implementing activities in 16 countries (EU and non EU countries) to protect Central and South East European migrant children from abuse, exploitation and trafficking (www.marioproject.org)
• Participation at the European Development Days 15 and 16 June: organization of the Lab debate “Launching evidence-based perspectives on sustainable development: investing in social cohesion for inclusive and peaceful societies”. The session will be co-organized by Terre des Hommes together with African Foundation for Development and International Catholic Migration Commission- ICMC Europe. The aim of the session is to raise awareness to the positive contributions of migrants to European societies.

• EU Public Conference: Closing a protection gap for European children on the move! (5 March 2015): Launch of five transnational research reports on the protection of children on the move in six European countries in the framework of Mario II project. The event was co-organised with MEP Nathalie Griesbeck in the premises of the European Economic and Social Committee.
• EU Event: My Destination is Unknown/Children on the move: will the EU deliver on its commitments? (19 February 2014). The event which included a testimony of Farah Abdi Abdullahi, a 18 years old guy who migrated from Somalia to Malta, was hosted by MEP Nathalie Griesbeck in the premises of the European Parliament.
