Goals / Remit
The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) AG is a transmission system operator, providing capacity to shippers interested in transporting gas in a safe, reliable and efficient manner. TAP has been established to plan, develop and build the TAP natural gas pipeline. TAP became operational at the end of 2020 and is transporting natural gas from the Shah Deniz II offshore field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea to Europe. The 878 km long pipeline connects with the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) near the Turkish-Greek border at Kipoi, crosses Greece and Albania and the Adriatic Sea, before coming ashore in Southern Italy. TAP’s landfall in Italy provides multiple opportunities for onward transport of Caspian natural gas to some of the largest European markets. TAP could enable further South Eastern European and Western Balkan countries to decarbonise their economies, including Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia via the Ionian Adriatic Pipeline.

TAP is particularly interested in European policy in relation to energy, climate, environment, trans-European networks, external relations (energy dimension), enlargement, foreign and security policy.
