Goals / Remit
As the largest higher education and research center in Western Romania, WUT has 11 faculties and a Teacher Training Department, offering 85 study programmes at Bachelor Level, 120 study programmes at Master level, and 19 Doctoral Schools. Out of these, over 20 Bachelor, Master and PhD study programmes are taught completely in English, French or German. Being a comprehensive higher education institution, with around 6% (around 1000) international students out of a total of 15000, West University of Timişoara is constantly striving to create a substantially authentic, interdisciplinary and international environment for our yearly incoming cohorts of undergraduates, graduates and postgraduates. To this end, we count on a number of almost 700 academic and 400 administrative staff. Our long term objectives include excellence in teaching and training, innovation and technological transfer research-wise, and creating a stat of the art digital infrastructure for supporting EU twin transition.
Main EU files targeted
The West University of Timisoara has only contributed thus far to legislative proposals or policies at national level, that may have impacted Romania's contribution as a Member State to the main EU legislative proposals or policies. Also, UVT has contributed to several consultations on legislative proposals via the organizations where UVT is a member, such as the European University Association. A specific EU initiative that West University of Timisoara is interested in in the field of higher education and research is the European Universities initiative.
UVT is now in the process of becoming actively involved in direct contributions to EU legislative proposals or policies, with a strong focus on topics such as education and training, youth, research, innovation, environment and climate action, border and security, health and wellbeing, engaged citizen participation, digital economy and society, culture and entrepreneurship. Following UVT registration in the Transparency Register, it is our intention to target this subject matters.
UVT fundaments its interests on the matter on being part of a European University Alliance and having had previous experience with the Erasmus Programme, Horizon 2020 and previous EC Funding Programmes as well as European funded projects (cohesion funds available in Romania).Address
