Goals / Remit
WECF is a network of member and partner organisations in 48 countries in the EU, EECCA region and globally. WECF members and partners cover 22 Member States of the European Union. The WECF network is comprised of a total of 212 organisational members and 167 individual members.
WECF aims at achieving a Healthy Environment for All by 2020. WECF members are organised in 5 thematic working groups:
• Safe Energy and Climate Protection
• Safe Food Production and Sustainable Rural Development
• Safe Chemicals and Waste Management
• Safe Water and Sustainable Sanitation
• Cross cutting: Environmental Rights and Gender in Sustainable Development
WECF’s work is based on 5 key strategies which apply to all its programmes and activities.
• Building the capacity of the network members and their partners
• Demonstrating practical solutions at local level
• Gathering, analysing and sharing results and lessons learned
• Convincing policymakers at all levels
• Engaging citizens through awareness and outreach
• WECF coordinates the network activities from 3 offices: in France, Germany and the Netherlands, and has representative offices in Switzerland and Georgia.Main EU files targeted

Communication activities
- WECF provided input to the new gender in development strategy and supports a new general gender action plan
– through Womens Mayor Group WECF provides policy recommendations on the SDGs for the EU and WECF is also lobbying them
– on the Aarhus issues : WECF always works towards the full implementation of the Directives and lobbyies (did this via letters etc.) for a directive on access to justice.

WECF visits a number of events and consulations of the European Parlament and the European Commission, has consultations and gives input in round tables as well as organises round tables in the frame of the EU processes.
