Goals / Remit
The World Shipping Council (WSC or the Council) is a non-profit trade association representing the liner shipping industry. WSC members carry over 90% of the world’s containerized trade and a substantial share of the world’s roll-on/roll-off cargoes. Through its permanent office in Brussels established in 2007, the World Shipping Council partners with the European Union to improve understanding of the liner shipping industry and to help shape the future growth of a sustainable, safe and secure shipping industry. The office is involved in the development of new regulations to enhance cargo safety and security, the facilitation of legitimate maritime commerce and supply chains, effective liner shipping competition policy and the shipping industry's green fuel transition and progress towards zero emissions. The WSC also has representative offices in Washington D.C. and Singapore.
