    Communication activities

    Climate & Energy:
    - WWF creates awareness as to how EU’s coal-fired power plants are undermining the EU its climate efforts, and WWF has published a report together with other NGOs titled ‘Europe’s Dirty 30’.
    - For the 2030 climate and energy framework, WWF aims to secure prioritisation for renewable energy and energy efficiency. To this end WWF has produced various briefing and position papers to inform decision makers, these are accessible here.

    Natural resources:
    - WWF EPO closely follows the implementation of the EUTR and FLEGT, and published a Government Barometer in August 2014, assessing EU Member States’ efforts to tackle illegal logging.
    - WWF chairs the European Habitats Forum (EHF) which assembles leading European nature conservation organisations to provide advice to the European Commission on the implementation and future development of EU biodiversity policy, including improving integration into sectorial policies.
    - Through the LiveWell for LIFE project, WWF promoted sustainable food at the European Parliament via a series of cooking demonstrations on healthy and sustainable diets between October and December 2014 and a LiveWell menu is now available at the European Parliament Members’ restaurant. A conference wrapping up the project was held in December 2014 and final recommendations report was published summarizing the key findings of the 3 years’ project. As an observer in the EU High-level Forum for a Better-Functioning Food Supply chain WWF also actively supported a new working group on a sustainable food chain, including in the development of a joint declaration issued in April available here.

    Fisheries and marine conservation:
    - WWF was intensely involved in the reform of the CFP, and is now monitoring its implementation. Emphasis has now expanded as well to support the effective implementation of the EU IUU Regulation. For press reactions on these topics, see here.

    External development and finance:
    - WWF actively works globally and across EU on the global framework for sustainable development post 2015. WWF is also leading a Concord-Beyond 2015 task force on the topic. CONCORD’s positions can be found here. Further information on WWF specific publications related to external development can be found here.

    Greening economies:
    - WWF provides annually input to both the Commission and the Member States for the European Semester process as well as inputs to the Europe 2020 Strategy review. A report with recommendations for sustainable economies in Europe will be published early 2015. WWF furthermore provides inputs to the establishment of the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI) and to the EIB climate policy review.

    Public Affairs:
    - Following the institutional changes in the European Parliament and Commission in 2014, WWF EPO engages with decision makers to make them aware of our key environmental asks for the new legislature. A set of action plans in all policy areas covered by WWF EPO were produced, published and distributed via e.g. http://ecoguide.wwf.eu. Additionally, by focussing on the annual Commission Work Programme, WWF aims to further promote its policy asks.

    Communications:
WWF EPO’s communication activities relative to its advocacy work at EU level include:
    - a regularly updated website (www.wwf.eu) with over 10,000 unique visitors per month and a strong social media presence (@WWFEU) of over 9,000 followers on Twitter
    - WWF N(EU)WS, an external monthly newsletter delivered to over 3,000 decision-makers which can be found here.
    - organisation of a TEDxWWF conference in Brussels in October 2014 attracting over 300 key decision makers, plus over 1,000 additional viewers via livestream
    - launch and promotion of WWF’s bi-annual Living Planet Report 2014.
    - launch of the WWF Eco-guide - full of useful easy tips and tools to help us travel, work, eat, heat our house, manage our bank account in a more sustainable way.
