Goals / Remit
Since 1965, Aquafil has been a leading player, both in Italy and globally, in the production of Nylon 6 polymer and yarns. The Group offers yarns for the textile flooring sector (used in hotels, airports, offices, residential buildings and automotive), yarns for sportswear, classic, and technical or specialist apparel, and polymers primarily for the engineering plastics sector and the molding industry. Aquafil is also recognized as a pioneer in circular economy: its flagship product is represented by ECONYL(R) Nylon obtained through chemical recycling (depolymerization) of pre- and post-consumer waste, such as fishing and aquaculture nets, old carpets, plastic scraps, etc. With the ECONYL(R) Regeneration System, Aquafil offers an opportunity for Nylon 6 products to never become waste, closing the loop in the Nylon 6 value chain. More recently, Aquafil has partnered with Genomatica towards developing an innovative technology to produce Nylon 6 from renewable plant-based resources.
