    Bruegel is a European think tank working in the field of international economics. Established in 2005, Bruegel is independent and non-doctrinal. It seeks to contribute to European and global economic policy-making through open, fact-based and policy-relevant research, analysis and debate. Bruegel's governance and funding model is unique. Its membership includes EU governments and leading international corporations as well as international institutions. Its day-to-day work is carried out at arm‘s length from members' interests.

    Bruegel does not have a budget for direct representation of "interests" as it is not an interest representing organisation - it is a public good with varied public and private funding, with checks and balances in place to safeguard its independence, even from its members and other stakeholders.

    Bruegel is fully committed to transparency, and has been since inception, and discloses both income and spending each year as well as disclosing the outside interests (financial and non-financial) of all its scholars and management.

    Bruegel has a number of other measures in place to guard against capture by specific interests including public declarations of outside interests (both financial and non-financial).
