    Goals / Remit

The world’s most popular online platforms and the app stores that govern access to them have become a critical gateway to the consumers of digital products and services worldwide. While they can be beneficial when fairly operated, they can also be used by platform owners to hurt developers and consumers. As enforcers, regulators and legislators around the world seek to address these important issues, we, the Coalition for App Fairness, urge them to recognize that every app developer, regardless of size or the nature of the developer’s business, is entitled to fair treatment by these app stores and the platform owners who operate them.

    Main EU files targeted

Focus mainly on digital files such as the Digital Markets Act.

The Coalition for App Fairness welcomes the Digital Markets Act and the European Commission’s efforts to regulate gatekeeper platforms. The European proposal for a Digital Markets Act (DMA) published on 15 December 2020 provides a strong basis to address persistent anti-competitive practices and ensure fair and contestable digital markets in the European Union.
