    Goals / Remit

The Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) is a private, independent, non-profit-making research and training institute, established in Athens in 1988. Its mission is to conduct research and provide policy makers, academics and the public at large with authoritative information and substantiated policy recommendations, so as to contribute to the development of evidence-based responses to major European and foreign policy challenges.

    Main EU files targeted

ELIAMEP conducts European and International research projects in the areas of European integration, transatlantic relations, human rights, migration, good governance, energy and climate change.
Enlargement and the integration of southeast Europe in the Union is among the ELIAMEP’s priority research areas. The EU’s neighbourhood policy as a comprehensive and inclusive strategy has also been at the centre of research work. Research work is being undertaken to encourage reflection on the political economy of Europe, particularly the economic management of the EU and the social regulation of economic relations in the EU.
Among ELIAMEP’s priorities is a particular and sustained focus on the migration and refugee crisis through the creation of a Migration Observatory.
Furhermore, ELIAMEP’s projects address political and security developments as well as regional cooperation in Southeastern Europe, the future of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership (EMP), and other initiatives, such as the new European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP), NATO’s Mediterranean Dialogue (MD) and the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI) as well as the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC).
