    Goals / Remit

    ATIC represents the Portuguese cement industry (market share - 95%). Its main task is to preserve and strengthen the cement industry competitiveness. Fundamental issues related to environment, energy, climate change, sustainability, quality, technology, competition, taxation, health and safety, are ATIC’s main concerns.
    Legislative procedures developed within the European Union assume particular importance. ATIC maintains contacts with the European Commission and the European Parliament (cooperation with Portuguese Members sitting in the Environment, Industry, Research and energy and Economic Affairs committees,), as well as with the permanent representation of Portugal to the European Union.
    ATIC also promotes scientific and technical activity on cement and their derivatives in order to improve their quality and their applications.
    Since 1988, ATIC is the national standards body for cements and concretes by delegation of the Portuguese Standards Body (IPQ).
