    Goals / Remit

    La Strada International (LSI) is a European NGO Platform against human trafficking, that works from a human rights perspective in support of trafficked persons. The Platform comprises 26 members and 4 associate members in 23 European countries.
    General activities undertaken by platform members include direct and indirect social support and empowerment programmes for trafficked persons and risk groups including (psycho) social, medical, legal and vocational support, shelter services, long-term reintegration and employment support, provision of consultations and referral via national hotlines, prevention lectures and trainings to professional groups, next to awareness-raising, advocacy and media campaigns. LSI provides information and knowledge exchange, capacity building and cross-sectoral cooperation. Further much focus is put on monitoring and advocacy for change to ensure accountability for the effective implementation of European Anti-Trafficking policies and regulations.

    La Strada International follows all developments relates to policies, measures and legislation to address human trafficking, as well as related fields; e.g. policies and legislation related to human rights, women rights, migration, labour/workers'rights and prostitution, accountability of the private sector.

    Legislation followed; the 2011/36/EU Trafficking Directive; new EU strategy on THB and appointment anti-trafficking Coordinator and the 2012/29/EU Victims Directive and Regulation (EU); EU Employment Sanctions Directive; revision of the Dublin treaty; EU posted workers directive etc.

    From 2009 until 2012, La Strada International implemented the project COMP.ACT and from October 2017 until November 2019, the project Justice at Last, both these European projects provided evidence and recommendations on how to enhance access to compensation for victims of trafficking and victims of crime.
