    Goals / Remit

COST provides networking opportunities for researchers and innovators in order to strengthen Europe’s capacity to address scientific, technological and societal challenges.
In order to achieve its mission, COST has three strategic priorities:
    - Promoting and spreading excellence
    - Fostering interdisciplinary research for breakthrough science
    - Empowering and retaining young researchers and innovators
Through its inclusiveness policy, COST supports the integration of research communities, leverages national research investments and addresses issues of global relevance.

COST is thus a building block of the European Research Area, instrumental for successful innovation strategies and global cooperation.

COST (CO-operation in Science and Technology) is a pan-European intergovernmental framework dedicated to networking activities for European researchers to jointly develop their own ideas and new initiatives across all scientific disciplines through trans-European coordination of nationally funded research activities. COST has been contributing since its creation in 1971 to closing the gap between science, policy makers and society throughout Europe and beyond.
