    Goals / Remit

    Eurodad (the European Network on Debt and Development) is a network of 58 civil society organisations (CSOs) from 29 European countries, which works for transformative yet specific changes to global and European policies, institutions, rules and structures to ensure a democratically controlled, environmentally sustainable financial and economic system that works to eradicate poverty and ensure human rights for all.

    Our focus is on strengthening the power of European CSOs, working as part of a global movement to push governments and powerful institutions to adopt transformative changes to the global economic and financial system.

    Eurodad's Strategic Plan sets ambitious goals to help achieve: tax justice to stem the loss of resources in developing countries;
    ending debt crises that hinder economic progress; effective aid that will transform lives;
    publicly-backed private finance and investment agreements that accelerate development results;
    climate finance that is res (...)

    Main EU files targeted

    Eurodad works for transformative yet specific changes to global and European policies, institutions, rules and structures to ensure a democratically controlled, environmentally sustainable financial and economic system that works to eradicate poverty and ensure human rights for all. The network engages with EU initiatives to promote legislative action for tax justice, regulate vulture funds and end uncritical promotion of public private partnerships to finance social and economic infrastructure, as well as analysis of official development assistance and policy coherence for development.

    Eurodad advocates for transparency rules for all large multinational companies through public country by country reporting, including on the Proposal for a DIRECTIVE OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL amending Directive 2013/34/EU as regards disclosure of income tax information by certain undertakings and branches. Eurodad also carries out research and advocacy on preventing corporate tax avoidance, addressing the problems of the corporate tax system, and for strong whistle-blower protection and progressive taxation.

    Eurodad is conducting research and advocacy activities on the implementation of the European External Investment plan as well as the next EU budget (2021-2027) , in particular the NDICI, which are currently under negotiation. Eurodad is also monitoring the ongoing discussions in the EC and the Council on the European financial architecture for development.

    The main institutions targeted by the Eurodad network are European governments, the European Parliament and the European Commission, the United Nations, the World Bank, International Monetary Fund and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
