Goals / Remit
Forest Peoples Programme (FPP) was founded in 1990 in response to the global forest crisis, specifically to support indigenous forest peoples’ struggles to defend their lands and livelihoods. It registered as a non-governmental human rights Dutch Stichting in 1997, and then later, in 2000, as a UK charity, No. 1082158 and a company limited by guarantee (England & Wales) Reg. No. 3868836, with a registered office in the UK.

Communication activities
FPP and its partners are active in VPA implementation and development in Cameroon, DRC, and Guyana and also a key organisation involved in the implementation of the FAO Voluntary Guidelines on the Governance of Tenure through detailed field support to forest communities in Liberia, Indonesia and DRC. FPP is also a lead player in the Global Call to Action on Indigenous and Community Land Rights launched in March 2016. FPP Communications and events target multiple global policy spaces, including the RSPO, The Tropical Forests Dialogue, FSC, the CBD, UN Human Rights Council, and UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, among others. Other activities
FPP is a human rights organisation with a focus on the land and territorial rights of indigenous peoples. FPP has active field programmes in more than twenty countries around the tropical belt in Latin America, Africa and South East Asia. This work is funded by charititable foundations and governmental donors, including the European Commission.
