FOV, the sectorial association of socio-cultural work

The FOV is the federation of all 139 socio-cultural organizations that are acknowledged by the Flemish government (acknowledged by the Department of Culture).

These civil society organizations are of great importance for the social cohesion in Flanders. More specifically, they try to find solutions for social challenges, such as poverty, integration, disabled persons, but also rural development and urbanity, ecology, civil rights, peace activism, etc. They are specialized in non-formal and informal learning, dissemination and conservation of culture, social and cultural participation, bringing together and activating (groups of) people.

Each year this sector includes 10 million participations to socio-cultural activities thanks to the employment of 200,000 volunteers. These volunteers are supported by about 1,800 professionals.
